WOMEN'S ISSUES
is one of several DAF working groups. More about them here.
The Women’s Caucus, like other policy groups within
Democrats Abroad France, has the chance to include resolutions
in the Democratic platform. We must not let this chance
go by to reiterate the issues that too often are taken for
granted.
Women’s rights are among them, and they have eroded
over the past seven years. For example, a woman’s
right to choose has been dwindled down to one Supreme Court
justice’s vote.
It's time to get our resolutions lined up for inclusion
in the Democratic platform. Health care seems to be the
most important issue concerning everyone and women above
all. Under its banner can come issues ranging from abortion
to the honesty and trustworthiness of the food and drug
administration guidelines to a woman being able to afford
to take herself and her children to the doctor. The other
issues of great concern to women are immigration, the homeless,
the war, and education. Most important is the continuing
violence against women spreading through the U.S. and the
world.
• Create clear and direct policy statements that can be relayed to DNC concerning women's issues
• Create possible "planks" for DNC use
• Intervene in selected matters which directly relate to women's issues, e.g. draft comments with respect to proposed regulations or legislation; letter writing, supporting candidates, etc.
• Find wedge issues to widen the appeal and the potential
impact of issues that specifically affect women to general
political areas.

The South Dakota legislature voted to ban abortions except
in the case where the mother's life is in danger. This is
a gauntlet thrown down in the face of all women. The challenge
must be met.
